July 2008 We'd like to thank all of our visitors for taking the time to check out this section. We will be vacationing, attending various horse shows and events, in and out of state for the remainder of this summer and into the fall. As such, we will not be updating the What's New segment of our web-site to the extreme we have in the past. We will however be updating our photos regularly so please check out the weanlings/foals, yearlings, and For Sale pages. Please enjoy the summer. If you have any questions or comments, or if we can help, please feel free to write or call. Steve. June 2008 June 3, 2008 - Things are moving along great at the ranch. Updated photos of the babies will be appearing shortly so please check out the 2008 foals page for your next World Class Halter Horse. Denese and I will be attending and actually showing our horses in various Appaloosa and Quarter Horse Shows in the upcoming weeks. Denese has experience with both however, I (Steve) will be making the big show debut. The horses at the ranch remain healthy, happy and fit and we are extremely pleased with our feeding and work out programs. Congratulations also goes out to Rick Conners of Bend, Oregon on his recent purchase of ApHC Always Charismatic. We wish Rick and Cristi much happiness and success with a very nice mare. May 2008 May 5, 2008 - We've been busy at the ranch with our horse operation. Chucky "Nastyattitude" has been cleared to breed for anyone needing semen. His overall condition is good and we look forward to a full recovery from his major colic surgery. We've weaned most of our babies and will be halter breaking them and getting them in shape very shortly. Our donkeys have been told they will be put to work shortly in assisting us with the halter breaking. Our vet and nutritionist have complimented us in our horses overall condition, fitness, coats, and dispositions. Our new quarter horse ad is now in the May issue of the AQHA Journal. April 2008 April 14, 2008 - Chucky is doing very well after his life threatening colic surgery recently. We hope to start breeding him again in the near future. All the mares and foals are doing great with the foals all having their own personalities. Handsome (Miss Quincy Favor X Kid Coolsified) continues to nurse off of Blondie and Sparkle and is doing better than we could have ever expected with the loss of his mother. We rented a recipient mare (as we could not get our recipients to exactly line up at the time) who arrived recently. She is fitting in very well with our horses and should have a tremendous foal. The foal will be sired by Multiple World Champion producer The Top Secret x AQHA World Champion and Congress Champion producer, Reserve World Champion PHBA producer Sparkle of Skip. Sparkle is also in foal to one of the greatest conformation AQHA Stallions, Fearles ( Call Me Phenominal x Sincere Te) Call Me Phenominal is a Congress Grand Champion and Four Time World Champion, Multiple Congress and World Champion Sire. Sincere Te is a AQHA World Champion and World Champion producer. April 1, 2008 - Things are moving right along at the ranch. "Chucky" is recovering very well from his colic surgery and we have just found out his tumor is non-cancerous. The Yearling show horses are looking great. For Appaloosas's, it's Lady Di and Coochi. For the quarter horses, it's Siena and Jewel. The foals are doing great and are enjoying life. We have most of our mares bred and are waiting on a couple to start cycling and showing some heat in order to breed. March 2008 March 22, 2008 - We've been very busy at the ranch the last few weeks. We're breeding our mares, have been collecting "Chucky", and watching the babies grow. "Handsome" is doing terrific despite the loss of his mother, Miss Quincy Favor" recently. Some great news is that "Sparkle" and "Blondie" have both accepted Handsome and are allowing him to nurse along with their own babies. On a much gloomier note, Nastyattitude, "Chucky" had undergone emergency colic surgery in the wee hours of Thursday morning. His small intestine had twisted three times and a tumor was found along the intestine wall. Dr. John McCarroll and Dr. Karen Adler performed the emergency surgery at Equine Medical Associates. We are very happy to announce that Chucky is home and seems to be doing very well. His blood work, bowel movements, etc. were normal for his release. It will take some time for the results of the tumor to be known. We are very happy and excited that Chucky is home however, he will be unavailable for breeding probably until sometime around mid April. We have also sent out hair samples of our weanlings to be tested for HYPP. We should have those results hopefully by the end of next week.
March 4, 2008 - We're happy to announce that all the babies and mares are doing fabulous. The foals are all starting to come on and we have a tremendous foal crop with conformation, balance, profile, and pedigree showing in the foals. Photos of the foals will be appearing shortly. February 2008 February 28, 2008 - 5:35 p.m. Superman's Starlet, "Star" delivered a beautiful, healthy, very nice conformation fillyby World Champion and Multiple World Champion producer Im Kiddin . This is our last foal for 2008 and we are very happy and excited that we can now take a break and rest a little. We've been breeding some mares for 2009 and will post our 2009 breedings when our mares are all checked in foal.
February 25, 2008 - We've been very busy at the ranch. Mike Saunders
of Dallas, Texas recently purchased two AQHA yearlings, NCC

Exotic Secret, "Lexie".
We wish Mike great success with these two beautiful yearlings. February 15, 2008 - We'd like to take the time to thank our veterinarian Todd Laughery, DVM for assisting us with the proper collecting of our stallion, "Chucky", for spending lots of time teaching us how to artificially inseminate, taking his routine walks around the barns and pastures making sure our horses are doing well, etc. The entire staff at Equine Medical Associates also needs to be recognized including John McCarroll, DVM. It is very reassuring and a pleasant experience to have these two fine professional veterinarians assisting us with any of our equine needs that may arise or if we have any questions. February 13, 2008 2:26 p.m. - Sugared Lightly, "Sugar" delivered a healthy, pretty filly by multiple World Champion producer, "The Top Secret". Both mom and baby are doing well. The colt is sired by World Champion and multiple World Champion producer Kid Coolsified. This filly is our tallest foal to date. She is pretty headed with a great back and neck. Look for this filly in the future. Both mom and baby are doing fine. January 2008
January 25, 2008 - We've been collecting "Chucky", our World Champion Stallion and are pleased to announce that his semen is exceptional. His "Motility" rate is over 90% and as of today's collection, we could have bred 30 mares at the ranch or 15 horses via shipped semen. We should have new baby announcements soon as "Zippy" (recipient, in foal to The Top Secret x Surely Prety), EBG Special Design in foal to Kid Coolsified, and Ms Kodak Te in foal to Mr. Yella Fella are due to foal anytime". January 16, 2008 - World Champion Am Dignified "Amy" gave birth to a very pretty, leggy colt this morning at 12:27 a.m. The colt is sired by grand National and World Champion Diversified. The horses look good and are sound with no hoof problems. December 11, 2007 - All of our pregnant broodmares look fabulous. Blondie (Blonde on Top) should be our first mother of 2008 followed by her own mother, Sparkle, (Sparkle of Skip). Look for our newly renovated web site shortly full of new pictures.
November 2007 November 29, 2007 - We hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving week! The horses are all doing fine. We'll be bringing in Zippy, Kodak, Sparkle, Amy and Blondie this weekend to get used to their foaling stalls for their upcoming foals in January. All the pregnant mares look great and are obviously in foal. We are also in the middle of revamping our web-site. New photos and text will appear by year end. A special thank you needs to go out to our web designer and ad designer/consultant Ellen Lebsock. If you're looking for quality work at a reasonable price and somebody very easy to work with, please contact her at www.nanaellen.com. November 21, 2007 - We'd like to wish everybody a happy and healthy
Thanksgiving. November 2, 2007 - He did it! Chucky IS the 2007 WORLD CHAMPION APPALOOSA STALLION. He was shown this morning in open two-year stallions by Steve Cruse and won the class with four firsts and one second. We're ecstatic! More details and photos to follow when we get back to the ranch on Monday. In the meantime, we want to say a big THANKS to Steve Cruse and his staff for a great job done. October 2007 October 31, 2007 - We're happy to be at the Appaloosa World Show in Ft. Worth, Texas. It's an easy drive for us and we can commute back and forth from the show to the ranch. Chucky will be arriving today and will show on Friday. We'd also like to thank the many people who have complimented us on our web-site. October 17, 2007 - I'll be the first to apologize to those of you who visit our site often and like to read what's happening. It's been too long since my last update. We are moving right along here at the ranch. We have the Appaloosa World Show coming up in two weeks followed by the AQHA World Show. ApHC World Champion AM Dignified and Lady Diversified (ApHC) (Diversified x Maid of Elegance) will be offered for sale at the ApHC World Show. Three of our AQHA weanling fillies are also for sale and are coming on strong. They are fit and ready to show, and are now available for the AQHA World Show. Please take a look at Perfect's filly, Ms Siena, and Quincy's filly on the babies/for sale page. These outstanding weanlings will make terrific show horses now and in the future. With their pedigree, look for outstanding foals in the years to come September 2007 Sept. 26, 2007 - It continues to be very busy at our ranch. We are still feeling Buster's loss and miss him a great deal. We have sold three horses recently. Touchdowns Spirit was sold to Juan Zermento and is going to Guadalajara, Mexico. We sold Exotic
GQ to Mike Saunders
of Dallas, Texas and most recently, our friend Clark Rassi purchased
Angel on Top. We wish Juan, Mike, and Clark best of luck with some
very nice horses and they should expect some very nice babies. Sept. 19, 2007 - It's a very tough, emotional, heartbreaking day for us today at the ranch. We went to visit Buster this morning and were pleasantly surprised at Buster's condition and the vet's optimistic approach. We were told that Buster did have some problems during the night however, seemed to have turned the corner this morning. He was bright eyed, was walking around, called to the other horses, had gone for a short walk, etc. Everything seemed to be healing and progressing right along. A few hours later, our vet called and said Buster was having problems and complications associated with his colic episode. Denese and I went to the clinic and visited with Buster. Buster was in tremendous discomfort even after being administered drugs and fluids. After a consultation with our vet and observing Buster, we had Buster humanely euthanized. Buster meant a great deal to us from the day he was born (three-weeks early). He had undergone major surgery to save his life, came home, was growing up and was getting ready to be a show horse. Things at the ranch are never the same with any loss of our horses but, Buster was one of those "Special" horses one tends to pick out in crowd. Whether it was his tremendous size and appearance for a weanling, his "Buckskin" color, or just his big bright eyes looking at you when you walked by his stall wanting you to just come in for a quick hello or brushing, Buster always put a smile on our faces and it was good just to have him in our presence. We miss you Buster! A special thanks needs to go out to our vet, Dr. Todd Laughrey, Dr. John McCarroll and the entire staff at Equine Medical Associates for their efforts, knowledge, expertise, and compassion for Buster and for us. Sept. 18, 2007 - It's been a tough couple days for us at the ranch. Our vet was here yesterday making his routine rounds when we heard some banging in "Buster's" stall (Kids Classic Style x Skip's Bright Maid). Buster got up on his feet then went down again. Buster was having an episode of colic. The vet administered meds immediately however, they did not relieve the pain and symptoms. We then rushed him to the clinic for emergency colic surgery. Denese and I watched the surgery and the surgery itself was successful however, Buster was found to have had "Strangulation of the small intestine". What had happened is that Buster developed a tear in the Mesentery tissue that allowed the intestine to "Snake" its way through, causing the small intestine to tie itself in a knot. Our vet and the other vets at the clinic have no definite answer to why this may have happened however, with his problems that arouse after birth, one might wonder if that may have had something to do with this episode. We went to visit Buster this morning and were told he was eating and had bowel movements throughout the night and morning. All good signs for recovery. With that said, his chances of survival are said to be 50/50 due to the condition of his small intestine the vet observed during surgery. The next 24-48 hours is crucial for Buster's survival. Sept. 11, 2007 - We've been pretty busy the last couple of weeks.
We've sold our Sugared Lightly
Colt to Jim and Rose Fritz of Saylorsburg,
PA and Tom Totten of Olney, Illinois purchased "Luis",
our colt out of Superman's Starlet by Exelaris. We wish Jim, Rose,
and Tom much happiness and success with their fine colts. August 2007
August 23, 2007 - Things at the ranch are moving right along. The babies are really coming on and the pregnant broodmares are developing some bellies. Denese has been devoting a lot of time and effort with "Siena" at Don Bell's direction for the upcoming Bayer Select World Show next week.
August 15, 2007 - We regret to announce and are very shaken up with the loss of our weanling filly "Daisy" Diversified x Am Dignified). Daisy was humanely euthanized and passed peacefully with pride and dignity last evening due to her final diagnosis of Cervical Vertebral Stenosis (CVS), most commonly know as Wobblers Syndrome. This is a developmental disease which affects all breeds of horses. From the information we have gathered, there is no known cure nor has it been determined how this disease develops in some horses. Daisy is and will be missed by us. August 13, 2007 - Our Appaloosa Stallion Nastyattitude, "Chucky" placed first in his class and was unanimously named Grand Champion Stallion under all four judges at his second show at the Missouri Extravaganza this weekend. We would like to thank Steve Cruse for his training and fitting of our stallion. We also spent some time at the AQHYA World Championship Show this weekend in Ft. Worth, Texas. We were fortunate enough to meet some very sincere and wonderful people and also ran into some of our friends at the show. Daisy's condition seems to be deteriorating as she is now having problems getting up. Her appetite remains very good and she is drinking water. We have our vet coming today to help us reevaluate her condition and to also make his routine rounds to check on everybody.
August 6, 2007 - We've just returned from a weekend in Amarillo, Texas for the Appaloosa Road Runner Classic. Our Two-year Old Stallion, Nastyattitude, "Chucky" , took Grand Champion Stallion in a class of eight. Although he was a little nervous being his first show, Chucky looked great in the show ring and we received many compliments. It was also nice to see many of our friends from Texas and especially nice meeting some new friends. On a sad note, we've been closely monitoring "Daisy", our Appaloosa weanling filly by Diversified out of Am Dignified, for a couple of weeks. She's been diagnosed with severe trauma causing neurological problems stemming from a head or neck injury. We're not certain how or when the trauma occurred as she has and continues to eat well, is alert, etc. however, has problems specifically trying to control her back legs. We are working with our vet however, her condition is life threatening and we're doing all that we can. July 2007 July 21, 2007 - We're pleased with the results of our veterinarian and nutritionists evaluations and comments. Our vet was here the other day for his regular stroll through the barn per our request to make sure the horses (particularly the babies) are developing and growing properly. Everything looks great! The foals are developing without any complications which is a big relief (as you probably know). Their legs, feet, backs, hocks, etc., are all looking great as well as the overall health and condition of the horses including their coats. Our nutritionist also stopped by and gave us a huge compliment also commenting on the overall condition of our horses. Our feeding program was tweaked just a little and we are well on the way to huge successes with our horses overall condition, health, and temperament July 12, 2007 - We would like to introduce and welcome Don and Joetta Bell to our family. Don is a halter horse trainer and judge residing in Whitesboro, Texas and has made quite a name for himself in the Quarter Horse World. Besides being a great western artist, he was the trainer for the legendary multiple World Champion Stallion and World Champion Stallion producer, Golden Gunslinger, who won every show entered. Since 2003, Don has multiple AQHA, PHBA, ABHA World and AQHA Congress Championships. We took "Siena", our Quarter Horse weanling filly (Mr. Yella Fella x Ms Kodak Te) to Don's yesterday for fitting and training. Don will be assisting Denese who will be showing Siena at the Bayer Select World Championship Show in Amarillo, Texas later next month. July 5, 2007 - We would like to acknowledge the great response and great words of encouragement we are receiving about our web-site, the photographs, and our breeding program. Thanks goes out to our old friends and new friends we are meeting at the Appaloosa World Show in Oklahoma City. Congratulations also goes out to our friends winning Grand National, National, and Reserve National Titles. On another note, we would like to congratulate Daryl Lankin on her recent purchase of "Jim", our weanling colt by The Top Secret, out of Statuetina. June 2007 June 26, 2007 - We're fitting the weanlings and most are nearly ready for the show circuit. Denese will be showing "Siena" our Mr. Yella Fella x Ms Kodak Te filly in Non-Pro at the Bayer Select World Championship Show in Amarillo, Texas in late August. We are moving right along with "Rosie" and "Buster" and have set our goal of having them be shown at the Appaloosa World Show in November in Ft. Worth, Texas, providing of course, they keep developing and progressing the way they are. Rosie and Buster are two Appaloosa weanlings that for sure will be eye catchers! June 22, 2007 - Congratulations goes out to Peggi and Jeff Goss of Denton, Texas on their purchase of Meg A Tac and C Three Bars To Win. We wish both Peggi and Jeff much success and happiness with these two fine horses. June 18, 2007 - Nastyattitude "Chucky", our two year old Appaloosa stallion will be making his World Show debut in November at the World Show in Ft. Worth, Texas this year. He will be shown by Steve Cruse and we anxiously look forward to his first regional show coming up soon. June 15, 2007 - We're successfully halter breaking our weanlings with the use of our donkeys. We've heard the stories about how the donkeys will take care of the coyotes and have heard some stories about using them to halter break horses. We decided to give it a try and are very pleased with the results. June 5, 2007 - We've successfully weaned our babies. It wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been and all the mares are together enjoying life out in the pasture. May 2007 May 20, 2007 - Things are moving right along at the ranch. We'll be weaning babies shortly and all is well. May 1, 2007 - We've completed our breeding for this year (finally). We've bred most of our mares, have done embryo transfers with others, and have let a couple go for the year to breed early next year. April 2007 April 27, 2007 - We're happy to report that all mares and babies are doing well. The babies are progressing right along and are enjoying spending more time outside. Our recent embryo transfer has been a success to date. Some landscaping projects around the property have begun and we have ads in the Appaloosa Journal and The Equine Chronicle for May. April 12, 2007 - Our breedings are nearly complete. We have a "Flush" scheduled for Sunday and it looks like that should be it for this year. April 9, 2007 - 12:09 a.m. Well, we're very happy and delighted to announce the arrival of our newest member, a healthy colt born without any complications. We're also very relieved that our foaling is now complete for this year. (What a relief) !!! March 2007 March 22, 2007 - Things at our ranch continue to move forward. We have bred a couple of our broodmares to "Nastyattitude" (Chucky) , our Appaloosa Stallion, who will be making his show debut later this year. February 2007 February 23, 207 - Everything is progressing right along here at the ranch. We have re-bred some of our broodmares and all the babies and moms are doing great !!! Some of the moms and babies are out in one of the pastures grazing, socializing, and playing. We have one more mare to foal out this year. Our Appaloosa Mare "Moments Pleasure" is in foal to the only breeding out of Quarter Horse "Kidd Rock" February 16, 2007 - 10:35 p.m. "Ellie" has delivered a healthy without any complications. This birth was a pleasure with little assistance and has been the best to watch this year. Both mom and baby are doing great. February 16, 2007 - 6:25 p.m. We have a new colt foaled by "Sugar". Both mom and baby are fine and everything is well with the both of them. February 14, 2007 - We have just brought "Buster" and "Skippy" home and both are doing well. We would like to thank Dr. David Stephens in Aubrey, Texas and his staff for doing a tremendous job in saving "Busters" life. Although he is now a gelding, he seems very happy just to be alive.
